Throughout the craziness of 2020 & 2021, Bodhi Z managed to drop off a collection of singles that were even crazier. Most recently, Bodhi Z flexed his versatility on two tracks off of local producer Bobby Beatz’s Bobby and Friends Vol. 2 project. I tapped in with Bodhi Z to learn more about how he got his start in music and more.

How did you start making music? I put my first song on SoundCloud back in like 2016 I believe. I used to chop and screw songs like Val Venis and Love Sosa. But it was always “Just for fun”. While I was away at school my homie got me my job at Blaze and eventually taught me about Ableton. I was like “Bro we both work the same job you know I can’t pay $50 for no beats” And he straight up told me, “Make em yourself then”. Told and showed me what Ableton was that that week I downloaded it, never looked back. He ended up passing while I was still in school a few weeks before spring registration. My homie was way further along in his journey than I was and all of it was taken away in a flash. But that showed me how fragile life was and that I NEEDED to do what made me happy. I dropped out, stayed out in Blono for a bit, moved back to the city w my OG and within a year had my own studio space up and running. I knew I wanted to do music for a long time, but after all of that, I knew I needed to do music.
