Nobody exudes the confidence and style of mf from Chicago like Yash Flee. The Southside creative’s most recent body of work, 4u, showcases his bravado over 12 impressive songs. When he isn’t making his own music, Yash Flee has a few other creative outlets that he taps into. I connected with Yash Flee to talk about his dream collaborations, creative outlets, and more.
Hometown: Chicago. Southside, 56th & Winchester but I bounced around a lot as a shorty settling down in the 100s
Birthday: July 23rd
Dream Collaboration: Even being a part of a collective ($ME) I work as a lone wolf for the most part but I wouldn’t mind working with Lil Herb or Jay Z. I listen to a lot of r&b too and I wanna work with some singers. I love Ari Lennox & Jean Deaux.
Two Words to Describe your Music: Authentic & Pretty
Favorite Chicago Artist: Herb
Top 3 Influences: Jay Z Cam’ron Kanye
Recommend 1st Listen: Wanna, I feel like it's a good introduction to my sound.
Favorite spot in the city: I'm a homebody but I spend a lot of time in Hyde Park.
Yash Flee on his other creative outlets:
Hip Hop and music have always been a passion and priority for me, but I always saw myself as an overall artist. Since a shorty, I was always into fashion & design so as an adult and an art student I had an opportunity to branch out and explore other outlets. I launched flee factory in 2020 as an umbrella brand to fit all of my creative endeavors under. While I think music will always be my calling, I know that it’s a lot of other ways I can contribute as an artist and a curator. It’s been beautiful being able to contribute to other artists' success not only sonically but visually
